  1. add TFS area parameter to TFS synchronization plugin configuration

Imagine a TFS project with multiple TFS teams (development of a product line with a shared code base - see ALM Rangers). Each team has a separate area with a team product backlog (separate SpecLog repository), so it would be great to be able to configure the area where work items should be synced to.

  2. Allow linking and display of pictures (*.jpg, etc) from TFS repository similar to Gherkins

When building a Feature tree of living documentation, beside the Gherkins the UI mockups should be also merged to reflect the current status of the system. It would be great to manage them together the same way and at the same place. Pictures could be stored in the TFS directory/sub-directory where Gherkin files are stored. When linking a Picture to a User Story, the picture is displayed within SpecLog (same as when attaching). History of UI mockups is also maintained this way and large pictures do not overstress the SpecLog database.

  3. Add a field Stack Rank to the user stories.

The export to html enables to sort user stories by stack rank.
Stack rank is synchronized to TFS.
It will help a lot for planning, providing to customer the backlog in html ranked by stack rank.
Optional: automatic sorting of user stories by stack rank: I select user stories, click X: all user stories piles up according to their stack rank.

p.s.: I know that Speclog is not designed for planning but this stack rank is the only missing feature that enabling me to do all my work in Speclog.

  4. Visualize DONE progress in Story Map

To be able to communicate progress and re-negotiate scope using story maps, it may help to convey DONE state of items visually. E.g. by placing a small green traffic light on the card. To avoid excessive tagging we recommend mapping to your ALM state 'Done' which would be quite generic if you provide a simple mapping table per item type. This feature might be coupled with sister request on reporting test stability, but not necessarily mixed into same indication.

  5. Display SpecFlow execution results in SpecLog

SpecLog allows to link SpecFlow Gherkin files to requirements. This way you can build up a living documentation map, that describes in detail the existing functionality of your product, guarded with automated tests.

Test execution results, however, are currently not visible in SpecLog, but must be obtained from an external source (e.g. an HTML test report generated by the build server).

To better allow seeing a "living" documentation map in SpecLog, we want to visualize test execution results of feature files that are linked to SpecLog requirements. This could be an overview "heat map" of test stability displayed on the…

  6. Web Version

It would be nice to have a web version of SpecLog. In the era of Html5 and the explosion of web app, it's such a pity to stick to windows desktop version. I find it as old school to go and download a client, take care of updates be sure that .net version 4 it's installed on your machine.

  7. Allow TFS Work Item types to be mapped to different SpecLog entities

WE would like to be able to keep all of the SpecLog entities in TFS, but keeping them all as User Stories really doesn't work.

It would be great, for example, to make TFS Features map to SpecLog Business Goals.

  8. Simplify the setup process

Setting up a shared repository and creating users is quite technical and time consuming. Build a UI to fast track you through this process.

  9. when the user copies a user story, the ID is automatically incremented

Between 2 projects, a part of the user stories are similar.
Thefore we define as template series of user stories, to copy them when building the story map. We just have to adapt them to the customer needs.

The issue is that the ID of the copied user story is exactly the same than the original one.
We would gain time if the ID is automatically incremented, like when a new user story is created in the normal way.

  10. Add templates for User Story acceptance criteria

    As a Business Analyst
I would like to have a template for User Story creation,
so that i have pre-filled structure of data which i need to fill in.

  11. Publish integration API + open source existing integrations for work item tracking and source control

SpecLog currently supports synchronizing requirements with work items (TFS2010) and linking Gherkin files to requirements from source control (TFS2010, GIT, fileshare).

To allow users building and customizing their own integration to other source control and work item tracking systems, we want to publish and maintain the existing integration on GitHub.

  12. Render MarkDown (with Tables extensions) in the descriptions of Gherkin feature files and scenarios

It would be cool if SpecLog would render the description parts of a feature file and the scenarios by interpreting MarkDown, ideally including the Tables extension.

  13. provide a richer text editor for the Criterions

we are now using SpecLog for all of our documentation and miss the ability to format such things as:
    - tables
    - indenting of lists with mixed bullets and numbering
    etc

  14. Allow creation of colour sets.

This may seem trivial but we use a larger number of card types than there are colour sets available. With SpecLog being such a visual system, it would be nice to have the freedom to colour at will.

  15. Change the estimation field to allowing t-shirt sizes

A lot of customers I consult with are not using numbers for their estimates. They may be using S, M, L and XL etc.

Demanding a number is limiting them a bit.

we’ll try to get this into the upcoming release. we need to check yet, whether/how this fits with TFS integration, as we sync the estimate to TFS workitems (if a TFS project is connected).

  16. Align Functions for cards on story maps

Add some align functions (align top, bottom, left, right, center vert., center horiz., distribute vert. horz.) to the menu bar in SpecLog so that cards can be aligned in more easy way.

  17. Add item to a workspace by editing the list of workspaces of the requirement

The details of a requirement show the workspaces that this item currently belongs to. This list currently allows me to open the workspace, and remove the item from the workspace.

I suggest you add the possibility to add the item to a workspace by making this list editable like the list of tags of a requirement. When I start typing, an intellisense list should appear with the workspaces that match my input.

  18. Provide more guidance about using SpecLog whilst working with Clients

I would like to see more guidance on the different ways that SpecLog can be used whilst working with Clients on the Requirements for their Project Work and on helping them to visualise progress.

Should I always generate Word documents to share with them. Is it appropriate to give them (temporarily?) a SpecLog Client and a cloned repository? Or something else?

    Thanks

  19. Allow tear-off tabs to better use multiple monitors

At the moment speclog's tabs are restricted to being held within the main parent window. A number of windows applications support tearing off tabs so that we can make use of multiple windows more effectively.

  20. Add standard scrum/kanban tracking abilities

Great requirements tool, but if you could add a couple "simple" features, it could also be a great tracking tool too:

    For example:
    - velocity over a period of time (requires status on stories)
    - user assigned (with gravatar displayed on a workspace)
    - ability to draw simple lines and add text on a workspace (kanban board)
    - burn ups/downs
